American Campgrounds is located halfway between Chicago and Detroit about 10 miles from Kalamazoo. The resort is within 10 minutes of stores, shops, malls and restaurants, yet far away enough to be really in the country. Located one mile from the resort is the famous Kal-Haven Trail, which is a 30 mile bike ride or hike to Lake Michigan. It is used for hiking and biking in summer and cross country skiing in the winter. Also located about five miles from the resort are 2 ski lodges and several golf courses.
